The GS108EPP solves a specific, annoying problem: getting real PoE+ budget into a living space without listening to a fan. Most 8-port PoE switches with budgets past 100 W cool themselves audibly; this one is genuinely fanless — Netgear rates it at zero dBA — while still offering 123 W across all eight ports, each capable of the full 802.3at 30 W. For a hallway cupboard feeding cameras and access points in a home or small office, that's exactly the right shape.

It's an "Easy Smart" switch, Netgear's web-managed middle tier, and the feature set is more useful than the marketing name suggests: 64 VLANs with 802.1Q tagging, QoS by CoS/DSCP with rate limiting, IGMP snooping for clean multicast, port mirroring, cable diagnostics, and — added over the line's life — two static link-aggregation groups. A small Netgear-specific touch I rate highly: PoE stays up through firmware updates and soft reboots, so your cameras don't all blink offline every time the switch patches itself.

Know the boundaries. Management is browser-only — no SNMP, no LACP (the LAGs are static), no cloud dashboard — and mounting is desktop or wall only; there's no rack kit, which tells you where Netgear thinks it belongs.
