The U7 Pro XG fixes the quiet flaw in most affordable Wi-Fi 7 access points: a fast 6 GHz radio stuck behind a 2.5 GbE uplink. This one uplinks at 10 GbE, so its 5.8 Gbps 6 GHz radio with 320 MHz channels actually has somewhere to go. At $199 that combination is close to unanswered — comparable 10G-uplink Wi-Fi 7 APs from the enterprise brands cost several times more.

It's a ceiling-mount disc in the classic UniFi mold (a wall mount works too, and the low-profile bracket is included), rated for about 1,500 sq ft and 300+ clients, with proper fast-roaming support — 802.11k, v and r — which is the feature that makes a multi-AP home feel like one seamless network. Power is ordinary PoE+ at up to 22 W, so any decent PoE switch drives it; note there's no injector in the box and no DC jack, so budget for one or a PoE port.

Two design decisions define who it's for. First, the radios are 2×2 on every band — six streams total. That's a density-and-roaming design, not a single-device speed-record design; a 4×4 enterprise AP will beat it one-on-one. Second, there is no standalone web interface. This is a UniFi managed device, so plan on a controller: a Dream Router, Cloud Key, or the self-hosted Network application. If that sentence sounds like homework, a consumer mesh kit will make you happier.

For a wired-backbone house or small office building out UniFi coverage, I think it's the obvious pick at the price — especially paired with a multi-gig PoE switch. Buy the standard U7 Pro instead if your switch tops out at 2.5 GbE anyway, and skip UniFi entirely if nobody wants to run a controller.
